SABE Peace Walkers

We are pleased to share a new community safety partnership with @sabepeacewalkers and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries in Osborne Village.

Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Social Responsibility Program is funding a safety partnership with the SABE Peace Walkers.

SABE Peace Walkers will offer incidental support and safe walks to the community.

They will be available to the public, residents and business members to provide community safety and support to those in need.

SABE Peace Walkers are provincially licensed in security and are trained in the following:

● Non-violent crisis intervention
● Administering Naloxone
● First aid/CPR
● Trauma-informed practice
● Harm reduction
● Seven pipe laws and seven healing methods

Who are the SABE Peace Walkers?

The SABE Peace Walkers are an indigenous led relationship-based de-escalation team whose intentions and purpose are grounded in the traditional seven sacred teachings.

SABE Peace walkers build relationships by meeting all individuals where they are at in hopes of mitigating the potential for emergency and crisis situations. They are rooted by Indigenous cultural principles, lived life experience, and modified peacekeeping training. Their goal is to sustain honest virtues in hopes of addressing some of the traumatic experiences that marginalized relatives have faced. They will work to connect individuals to support services.

This 17 week pilot project will operate in Osborne Village 5 days a week Tuesday through Saturday from 5pm until 11pm.
