Summer fun in the village

We’re thrilled to introduce our Osborne Village BIZ Summer Fun series. From July through August 2026, we’re transforming outdoor spaces in the village into hubs for connection and community-building. The two primary hubs are the Community Canopy (155 Osborne Street) and the iconic Bell Tower (The corner of Osborne St and Stradbrook Ave). A third hub is the Crescent Arts Centre (525 Wardlaw Ave).

Osborne Village is one of the city’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Despite this, how many of us know our neighbours? Our hope is to provide opportunities for community members and visitors of the village to connect.

In recent years, there’s been a lot of talk about the concept of "third spaces". Simply put, many folks don’t have places to meet and connect with each other outside of home and work/school. Third spaces serve as opportunity for people to relax and hang out without the pressures of home or professional responsibilities. The Community Canopy was created with the goal of becoming your third space.

Community members can look forward to:

  • Interactive Workshops. Learn new skills with hands-on sessions ranging from African drumming to Bollywood dance.

  • Cultural Performances: Enjoy drumming, dance, and storytelling.

  • Movie Nights: Your favourite movies projected outdoors.

  • Live Music: From indie bands and jazz trios to DJ nights.

  • Outdoor workouts: Instructor-led exercise classes for all abilities

Accessibility:

  • All of the programming is open to all ages (unless otherwise posted)

  • The Community Canopy and The Bell Tower are wheelchair accessible. The entrance to Crescent Arts Centre includes steps.

  • All programming is free to attend. Note: There may be opportunities to purchase food or beverage at select events, including Movie Night.
